Henry Charles Lea was elected a director of the Library Company in 1870 and resigned in 1902. Much of this correspondence concerns Lea's proposal to build a $50,000 extension to the Library Company. Correspondents include George Maurice Abbot, James G. Barnwell, James S. Biddle, Edward S. Buckley, George H. Fisher, William Henry Rawle, and James Duval Rodney.
